Head of Marketing with Range: Lead Brand Marketing, Product Marketing, Earned and Paid Content Marketing for a high-growth tech and services startup serving nonprofit sector; Build a team and function that’s an unfair advantage for Demand Gen (led by your colleague, and a dotted line report)

About the role:

This person operates on the executive team and as a day-to-day leader for Marketing with direct managerial responsibility for Positioning and Brand, Product and Content Marketing, and dotted-line influence and oversight of Demand Gen Marketing which reports directly through Revenue.

The Head of Marketing is responsible for developing and executing a marketing strategy that results in increasing brand authority for GoodUnited through earned and paid content, strategic brand investment and excellent product Marketing.

A colleague and close collaborator with Sales, the Head of Marketing also has influence and oversight for the marketing funnel that generates the sales qualified leads, as well as for the team responsible for executing Growth Marketing - demand and customer marketing, which will report in through Revenue but rely on Marketing content and strategy i.e., the content, earned and paid promotion, and events and sponsorships necessary to build the GoodUnited brand should be activated by them and converted mainly through digital Marketing into engagement with qualified leads.

The role’s responsibilities: How we envision this person spending their time

Functional Leadership | 30% of your time

  • Set and refresh the GoodUnited Marketing vision and strategy to generate sales qualified leads
  • Set, advocate for, and manage marketing budget
  • Optimize the marketing tools; test and invest in what’s new and necessary; ensuring technology and process reflects Best for a high-growth startup

Brand Marketing | 20% of your time

  • Share the GoodUnited story through earned, owned and paid channels, opportunistically expanding market awareness to our defined market; Creative direct key initiatives
  • Liaise with key external partners to build relationships that benefit GoodUnited e.g., Facebook, P2P Forum, others identified

People | 20% of your time

  • Identify the roles needed to execute the marketing strategy and oversee additions to the team via FTE or contract/outside partner.
  • Provide career guidance and coaching to members of the Marketing Chapter e.g., current team and future hires
  • Steward relationships with external marketing contractors and agencies to extract maximum value from these partnerships

Oversee Content and Product Marketing | 20% of your time

  • Oversee the testing and refinement of content and channels used for marketing ABM LOE:ROI, CPL
  • Oversee content marketing engine
  • Oversee the development of a Product Marketing engine, overlaying it into Brand, Content and Growth Marketing as well as across strategy company-wide

Growth Marketing | 10% of your time

  • Stay aware of the demand gen funnel, its input and outputs, using Hubspot as the single source of truth - using its health and metrics to influence what Marketing builds
  • Consolidate and evaluate requests into Marketing from Tribe 1 (Revenue) to prioritize Marketing efforts aligned with Sales, Customer Success, Optimization and Growth Marketing efforts, output and learning

Requirements

About you:

  • You have strong verbal and written communication skills; you’re someone who can relate to and build constructive relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • You have functional experience that will benefit your practical oversight of Product, Brand, Content and Demand Gen Marketing with emphasis on Product, Brand and Content Marketing
  • You’re an excellent listener and an excellent writer, capable of listening intently and persuading passionately
  • You’re proficient in creating and delivering executive-level, like data-driven presentations
  • You have proven experience influencing C-level executives; the ability to flex presentation style mid-stream to maintain control of the audience
  • You’re collaborative; you know you’re not always right
  • You have a missional mindset: You’re passionate about delivering five-star experiences internally and externally, for fellow team members and for customers - you grock our nonprofit partner’s missions to literally save the world
  • You’re coachable and willing to coach others; you’re willing to mentor, advise and cultivate talent
  • You have strong analytical skills with the ability to assess and initiate action independently and act or take charge before others do

Who You’ll Work With:

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience
  • B2B SaaS Marketing experience preferred, ideally in a high tech or startup environment
  • Experience volunteering for a nonprofit or working for a cause you’re passionate about
